David Jonsson and Black Panther
The biggest news of 2026 is his casting in Marvel’s Black Panther series. Reports say he was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Ryan Coogler is expected to direct, and the film is reported for December 2028.
Some websites say he plays Prince T’Challa II, the son of T’Challa. Other sites describe his role in slightly different ways. We suggest you check Marvel’s official statements for the latest details.
In any case, fans see this as a huge step. Marvel has not recast the late Chadwick Boseman’s character. Instead, the story is expected to move on to a new generation. For David, it is a chance to carry a major global franchise.
David Jonsson in Alien: Romulus
Alien: Romulus is the role that turned him into a global name. He played Andy, a reprogrammed android who is the adoptive brother of Rain, played by Cailee Spaeny.
What made the role stand out? Andy starts as a sweet, slightly awkward helper. Later, the story changes him. David had to show warmth, fear, humour and menace in the same film. Many reviews named his work as a highlight of the movie.
The performance led to a Saturn Award nomination, according to some reports, and it helped him win the 2025 BAFTA Rising Star Award. Reports also say he may return as Andy in a future film, but nothing is confirmed.
